Gas Prices Cramping Vacation Fantasies? Try a Staycation Instead
June 22, 2012
Summer travel can be expensive. With the cost of gas and airline tickets, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that a vacation is out of the question this summer. DCTA is encouraging area residents to consider a staycation and experience all the Denton County and North Texas have to offer.
Transit makes staycations easier and more fun by providing affordable and convenient access to museums, festivals, tourist attractions, sporting venues and special events. Our partnership with DART, The T, and TRE provide for several transportation options throughout the metroplex. With a plethora of attractions along the rail and bus routes, having a staycation can be an inexpensive substitution this summer.
Denton and Lewisville have a series of major attractions this summer that are just a bus and train ride away. For local events, consider catching a live music show in Denton, or perhaps go see the Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series in Old Town Lewisville. Regional attractions to consider traveling to include the Dallas Zoo, the Fort Worth Zoo, the Dallas World Aquarium, the Science Museum, the Glen Rose Area, River Legacy Parks, Outdoor Summer Concert Series, Trader’s Village Flea Market, and much more.
DCTA is encouraging customers to take advantage of the public transit services as not only a means of daily commuting this summer, but also as a fun alternative for family staycationing. Enjoy your city on a budget with DCTA.
