Fun Things to Do in August!

There are tons of fun things to do this month, including riding a hot air balloon in Highland Village or going to a rodeo in Denton. Check out how we can get you to all of these cool events!
First Friday Denton (August 5)
Experience Denton’s art scene in many forms on “First Friday.” Local businesses and galleries will have activities throughout the evening on Friday, August 5, between 6 and 10 p.m. Stroll through downtown Denton to experience and observe local art activities. Ride the A-train to the Euline Brock Downton Denton Transit Center (DDTC) and take a short walk to get to the downtown Denton square. For more information, visit www.firstfridaydenton.com.
Denton Community Market (August – November)
The Denton Community Market is a producer-only farmer’s and art market taking place at the Denton County Historical Park. The market will feature live music, kid’s activities, local farmers, local artists, food trucks, food vendors, and more. The Denton Community Market will occur every Saturday until November 2016 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ride the A-train and take Denton Connect Routes 7 and 8 to experience the best of Denton. Lone Star Iced Tea Fest (August 13)
The Lone Star Iced Tea Festival celebrates the world’s #1 most popular beverage on Saturday, August 13, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Lewisville Premier Event Center. This year’s annual festival theme is “Texas Tea” and will feature tea samples, workshops, vendors, live music, entertainment, children’s activities and contests! Ride the A-train and take Lewisville Connect Route 23 to enjoy the “house wine of the south.” For more information, visit www.icedteafest.net.
Highland Village Balloon Festival (August 19 – 21)
DCTA is proud to be a sponsor of the 29th Annual Highland Village Balloon Festival. The festival will be held August 19 through August 21 and will feature fun for the entire family! Enjoy the wiener dog races, kid zone, live bands, car show, 5k run, food, arts and crafts, and of course the iconic hot air balloons. North Texas Fair and Rodeo (August 19 – 27)
The North Texas State Fair Association presents Denton’s Annual North Texas Fair and Rodeo which will feature a world championship rodeo, entertainment from the best Texas Country musicians, carnival rides and games, fiddling contest, petting zoos and barbecue cook-offs! The fair will take place at the North Texas Fairgrounds from Friday, August 19 through Saturday, August 27. Ride the A-train and take Denton Connect Route 6 to get to all the festivities.
