Why We’re Thankful
November 22, 2016

It’s that time of the year where everyone takes time to ponder on what they’re grateful for in their life. For us, there have been so many great opportunities and accomplishments we achieved this year – and we wanted to take the time to share those with you! Here are a just a few reasons of why we’re thankful:
- New and Improved Highland Village Services
On April 4, 2016, we launched two new services in Highland Village – Connect Shuttle and Community On-Demand. Connect Shuttle, a peak-hour bus service that stops in five different locations in Highland Village, provides residents and visitors in Highland Village access to low-cost transportation and potential employment. Community On-Demand, a demand-response service, can provide riders with service with as little as a two-hour scheduling window and is a more responsive and convenient transit option for the community.
- A-train Five-Year Milestone
We can’t believe it’s been five years since we first launched our A-train commuter rail service to the general public! On June 18, 2016, we celebrated five years of rail service in Denton County with a free-ride promotion and highlighted the many accomplishments DCTA has achieved since the launch of our commuter rail line that has greatly benefited the many communities we serve.
- North Texas Xpress Bus Service to Fort Worth
On September 26, 2016, in partnership with the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, we launched a weekday, commuter bus service along I-35W. This service has been a key part of our long-term planning and many riders have enjoyed the service thus far. We hope to expand this service by offering improved frequency and increased trip opportunities in the future.
- Partnership with Uber for New Discount Program
We pride ourselves in finding ways to offer innovative transit solutions to our passengers. One way we did that this year was partnering with Uber, one of the country’s leading ride-sharing services, in an effort to provide more transit options for those traveling within Highland Village. As part of the new pilot program, those traveling within the specified Highland Village Zone will receive a $2 discount for Uber rides.
- Our Passengers & Supporters
In the past year, DCTA has experienced significant growth and has focused on expanding and improving services that would best benefit our riders. We’ve held many public meetings and have solicited information in order to garner feedback from our riders and the community-at-large in order to do this, and we can’t thank you all enough for your support for us! Without your continued support, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do best – which is to provide safe, customer focused, and efficient mobility solutions for Denton County.
We appreciate everyone who supports us and feel so grateful for a great year! The year ahead looks bright for us, and we look forward serving our riders, stakeholders, local partners and the community-at-large. Tell us in the comments section below what you’re most grateful for this year!
