Fun Things To Do in July!

Looking for fun events designed to combat the summer temperatures? July’s events have plenty for you to stay cool in Denton County this month, whether it’s enjoying some homemade ice cream or attending an indoor event!
THEATER
- The Producers (weekends from July 10-August 2 at the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre) – check out the Tony-award winning musical penned by Mel Brooks featuring a show within a show and the story of theater producer Max Bialystock and accountant Leo Bloom. The GLCT is accessible by Lewisville Connect Route 23.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
- Summer Reading Club events (Monday nights at 7 p.m. at the Lewisville Public Library) – every Monday night is a new adventure for students entering grades K-5, including the movie Paddington (July 6), Dazzling Dave’s Science Spectacular (July 13) and Mr. Blue Shoes Show (July 20). The Lewisville Public Library is accessible by Lewisville Connect Routes 22 and 23.
- Denton Community Market (Saturdays at the Denton County Historical Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) – enjoy local eats and good music every Saturday morning. The Denton County Historical Park is accessible by Denton Connect Routes 7 and 8.
- Ice Cream Crank-Off (July 18, on Walnut between Locust and Elm, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) – don’t miss your chance to beat the heat and try some homemade ice cream! Free and open to the public (costs $15 for the People’s Choice Tasting Kit). Walnut Street is located near Denton Connect Routes 6, 7 and 8.
LIVE MUSIC
- Mariachi Sol de Mexico with maestro Jose Hernandez (July 25 at the Murchison Performing Arts Center, 7 p.m.) – make plans to come see this concert, part of the mariachi series at UNT! Contact the UNT College of Music for ticket information. The Murchison Performing Arts Center is accessible by Denton Connect Route 8.
